Kitchen Shelf for My Tiny Kitchen
As I think I’ve mentioned before, we’ve been practicing cooking in a tiny kitchen before we build one for our tiny house.
When I started my Wholefood Cuisine blog a few weeks ago, I was cooking more and needed more countertop space. So Larry and I started looking at how we could rearrange things in the space we had.
One space that wasn’t being well-utilized was a two-foot wide space between the refrigerator and the wall (you can see the space to the right of the refrigerator in the photo at My Tiny Kitchen). It had boxes piled up against the back and this oversize jar of rice at the front. But there was all this empty space above it that was not being utilized.
So we built shelves in that space that were two feet wide but as deep as the side of the refrigerator.
And we put this nifty pull-out shelf at the bottom for the rice jar. It’s wonderful. All I have to do is pull it out and it’s easy now to scoop out the rice and put it back in. And I have lots more shelving above for cookware that never had a place before.
There is more space in a tiny place that is apparent at first.
Having just this sliver of extra shelving has made a huge difference in the workability of the space.
Since blogs typically give most recent posts first, it can be difficult to read a chronological story from the beginning on a blog. So here is a list of the blog posts starting with the first post and moving forward in time:
